Sean Murphy is currently a Vice President in Leidos (formerly SAIC) Health Solutions Group and serves as the organization’s Health Information Privacy and Security Officer. He is a healthcare information security expert, with almost 20 years of experience in the field serving at all levels of healthcare from the hospital to an international integrated delivery system. Prior to joining SAIC, Sean was a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force Medical Service Corps. He has served as CIO and CISO, but his proudest professional accomplishment was his service as Senior Mentor to the Afghan National Police Surgeon General’s Office in 2008-2009 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
He’s also an adjunct professor at Saint Leo University, a fellow at the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), board-certified by the Healthcare Information & Management Systems Society (HIMSS), and holds two certifications from the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC2).
He is a past-chairman of the HIMSS Privacy and Security Committee and currently serves on the Excelsior College Industry Advisory Councils for Information Technology and General Technology.
He holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration (Advanced IT concentration) from the University of South Florida, a Master’s degree in Health Services Administration from Central Michigan University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Maryland. He also holds the following certifications: FACHE, CPHIMS, and CISSP-ISSMP.
