As part of its symposium series, the National Cybersecurity Institute (NCI) hosted on September 16, 2014 its first symposium on The Nature of Cyber Warfare. During the event, issues related to the changing meaning of cyber security, the intersection of US policy, and the protection of private information were addressed.
The symposium featured some of the Nation’s foremost experts in cyber warfare including panelists:
- Dr. Mark Haggerott, Deputy Director and Distinguished Professor, Center for Cyber Studies, U.S. Naval Academy
- Admiral William Leigher (USN-RET), Advanced Solutions Director Intelligence, Information and ServicesRaytheon Company
- Dr. Matthew Flynn, Associate Professor of Military History, Marine Corps University
- Sean McGurk, Vice President for Business Development/Critical and Infrastructure Protection, Centripetal Networks, Inc.
Dr. Ernest McDuffie, Lead for the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE) at NIST, presented the framework for the conversation. The symposium was also moderated by Dr. Jane LeClair, Chief Operating Officer at the NCI.
