Jim Jones, PhD, is an Associate Professor at George Mason University. His teaching and research activities are focused on digital forensics, specifically the extraction, processing, analysis, and manipulation of digital artifacts. He has been a cyber security and digital forensics practitioner and researcher in industry, government, and academia for over 20 years. His current and past research has been sponsored by DARPA, DHS, NSF, NPS, DoD, and SAIC.
Dr. Jones earned his Bachelor’s degree from Georgia Tech (Industrial and Systems Engineering, 1989), Master’s degree from Clemson University (Mathematical Sciences, 1995), and PhD from George Mason University (Computational Sciences and Informatics, 2008)
Areas of interest include: digital forensics, malware behavior and detection, cyber warfare, analysis and reasoning systems, and cyber security education.
