March 10, 2019 – The federal Cybersecurity Framework developed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology in the U.S. Department of Commerce was originally launched by President Obama and continued by President Trump. Applicable infrastructure includes utilities providing energy and water as well as sectors covering transportation, financial services, communication, healthcare and public health, dams, key manufacturers, emergency services and more. Dr. Estwick will be a panelist at the ASPA conference discussing Cybersecurity Infrastructure and the urgency of our informed action to prevent the multi-dimensional threats we invite if we fail to address cybersecurity challenges.
March 22-23, 2019 – Dr. Estwick will discuss some of the research she conducted within the Department of Defense and how that research led to her having a rewarding career in cybersecurity. She will highlight the importance computer science plays in current cybersecurity research and discuss her mission to increase women and minorities in the cybersecurity workforce.
March 28-30, 2019 – Dr. Estwick is on the scholarship committee for Women in Cybersecurity and will be the panel moderator at this event. She will moderate an esteemed panel of women veterans discussing how their military training impacted their cybersecurity career path and what were some of the challenges they have to overcome. Panel title: We Got the Skills! Learn from Women Veterans Who Transitioned to the Cybersecurity Workforce.
